To launch the first season of the SHOWTIME® Original Series, we created a massive 3D billboard along with an interactive installation for the Brooklyn Museum.
We wanted to tease the sci-fi show’s story in an artful and innovative way that was as fitting for an art museum as it was for a towering digital display in Times Square. In the series, the main characters’ fates are intertwined: they must come together to save both their home planets. Our creative starts with two galaxies at opposite ends of space — representing the journey of each character — that swirl into one another and become inextricably linked. From that alien landscape, something distinctly human emerges: two faces.
The corner wrap billboard was utilized to create an anamorphic illusion where the faces appear to break out of the frame. The result was a unique, larger-than-life piece that stood out from the expected ads surrounding it in midtown.
For the companion experience at the museum, the billboard creative was reimagined as an interactive installation. The characters’ fate was put into the user’s hands—literally. The show’s story is told through a user-led installation where hand gestures are the key to moving through the narrative.
